Tony Estanguet launches the label “Terre de jeux 2024” to associate “all territories” with the Olympics

They will have privileged access to all the information around these Olympic and Paralympic Games, explained the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games. The Organizing Committee of the Paris Olympics 2024 will launch Thursday, November 22 a label for local authorities, “Land Games 2024”, which will be officially presented by Tony Estanguet, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, to the assembly of mayors of France at 2 pm Porte de Versailles in Paris.

“The goal is to bring the magic of games to everyone,” said Tony Estanguet on franceinfo, which announces an “Olympic and Paralympic Week in all schools from February 4 to 9”. “We will think of programs to create a link around sport with the entire population,” he added. “Those who will be labeled ‘Terre de jeux 2024’ will have privileged access to all the information around these Olympic and Paralympic Games (…) we will really co-build these games to make it a real success”, because ” the aim is to involve all the territories “.

Tony Estanguet: We imagine a label that will be able to decline in different forms. The goal is to make all the people enjoy the magic of games. During the event, it will be necessary to have the possibility to set up fan zones, and to participate in the party. But it’s mostly from now on. How do we put in place programs around education through sport, sport-health, the look at disability? Like all these programs that we are developing with Paris 2024, our partners, which will be the local authorities and the sports movement that will be able to decline all of these programs with this label “Terre de jeux 2024”.

What kind of communities may be involved and what projects do you expect?

The goal is to involve all territories. There is room for everyone and from today. We are talking about the big regions, the small villages, the departments, the metropolises. It is important to say that everyone can get involved and that it is not a question of means. It’s not because we have a big stadium that we can become “Terre de jeux 2024”, it’s because we’re going to be creative, we’re going to think about programs to create a link around the sport with the whole population. This can be people who are disabled, there are departments that have asked me on this topic. It can be seniors who want to do a little more sport. It can be youth in city neighborhoods. From February 4 to 9, 2019, we will organize the Olympic and Paralympic week at school in all schools.

What will be the benefit in return for the labeled communities?

The interest is to really benefit from this dynamic of Paris 2024. This label “Terre de jeux 2024” will offer visibility to local authorities. Today, I am struck to see all the people who want to join the adventure Paris 2024. It is a project which federates, which makes dream. Today, we really want to show the best face. It’s a collective responsibility. We need to be creative together. Those who will be labeled “Terre de jeux 2024” will have privileged access to all information around these Olympic and Paralympic Games. This concerns the volunteer program, the ticketing, the relay of the flame that will pass on all the territories in 2024. We will really share, co-build these games so that it is a real success and that it can impact all the French people. Source France Info published on 22/11/2018 | 6:22
